This Delicious Fruit Prevents Breast Cancer, According To Research

There is no person in the world that doesn’t love the taste of strawberries. In fact, this fruit has lots of health benefits and according to latest research they have great anti-cancer properties. This study research was published in the Scientific Reports.

The scientists also found that consuming strawberries as part of your diet can result with preventing development of breast cancer.

In the study there were two groups of mice which were given different diet. The first group consumed the standard diet and the other group consumed diet which consisted of 15% strawberries extract. After being on the diets for one month, they were injected with A17 breast cancer cells.

The development of the tumor cells was monitored closely and after five weeks they extracted it. All of the extracted tumors were analyzed and weighted. The results showed that the group that consumed strawberry extract stopped the propagation of cancer cells. Also the size of the tumor was much smaller in this group.

The tumor cells were also treated with different concentrations of Alba strawberry extract for 1, 2, and 3 days. Scientists found that tumor cells decrease their viability after they are treated. They concluded that the amount of the change is correlated to the dosage and time.

One of the co-authors of the study, Maurizio Battino, stated: “We have shown for the first time that strawberry extract, rich in phenolic compounds, inhibits the proliferation of breast cancer cells in in vitro and in vivo models.”

Even though this study was conducted by using strawberries extract, consuming fresh strawberries can help you boost your overall health. This fruit is extremely rich with antioxidants, essential nutrients, and vitamins. The main properties are potassium, magnesium, manganese, and vitamin C which are great for boosting your immune system.

Also, according to different studies, consuming strawberries on regular basis can help you reduce blood pressure. Strawberries are always recommended for people with diabetes due to the low glycemic index it contains.

Another study conducted by Harvard found that consuming anthocyanin-flavonoids which are found in berries prevent heart attacks.

Even though the main cancer study was conducted on mice researchers believe that the effect will be the same on humans.

According to Battino, “These results are without a doubt valid for understanding potential effects of strawberries on breast cancer and the molecular mechanisms involved, but they must be complemented with clinical and epidemiological studies to verify whether humans experience the same positive effects as we have observed in mice.”
