Dye Your Hair Naturally: These Recipes Will Make Your Hair Perfect

Different studies suggest that 65% of women dye their hair with hair dyes which contain lots of chemicals. The National Cancer Institute revealed that hair dyes contain more than 5.000 chemicals.

These chemicals are really harmful for your health and it might lead to serious hair and scalp damage. Instead you should use alternative natural remedies that can have the same results without causing any harm to your health.

Here are some alternative methods:

1. Walnut shells
Walnut shells are perfect for dark and brown color. Boil the walnuts for ½ an hour, but before that you need to crush the shells. Once they are ready you should let it cool and strain the mixture. Apply this mixture on the hair and leave it for one hour. Afterwards you should wash the hair with warm water.

2. Lemon juice
You can use lemon juice for highlighting by simply spraying it on the hair. Also make sure that you comb the hair afterwards. Leave the lemon juice on the hair for few hours in order to act. If you want lighter nuances you should dry it in the sun or add chamomile in the mixture. Repeat this method few times until you get the wanted effect.

3. Herbs
You may use different herbs in order to obtain different hair colors.

Red – you should use calendula, rosehips, hibiscus, and marigold if you want to get deeper red color. Add the herbs in water and leave them to simmer for at least ½ an hour. Afterwards let it cool and apply it on the hair and dry it (preferably under the sun).

Brunette/dark – for this color you should use nettle, sage, and rosemary. You should simmer the herbs for at least 30 minutes and afterwards strain the mixture. Let it cool before you apply it. Spray the mixture on the hair and leave it for at least one hour in order to act.

Blonde – in order to get this color you should use saffron, marigold, calendula, sunflower petals, and chamomile. If you want to have lighter colors add catnip. Simmer the mixture for ½ an hour and afterwards you should strain it. Apply the mixture on the hair.

4. Coffee
Coffee is great for darker hair colors because it gives the chocolate look to your hair. Brew some organic coffee and mix it with 2 tablespoons of coffee grounds.

Next, you should add 2 cups of water and your natural conditioner is ready. Apply it on the hair and afterwards rinse it with apple cider vinegar. Also you can add coffee directly to your hair after you wash it, and rinse it with apple cider vinegar.

5. Tea
This is the best natural ingredient that can help you color your hair. For best results you should use black tea if you want to darken your gray hairs. Also you may use chamomile for blondes, and rooibos for redheads.

Use 3-5 tea bags in 2 cups of water. Mix it well and apply it on your hair. Once you apply it leave the mixture for ½ an hour and rinse it afterwards. Feel free to leave the tea to act overnight if you want.

6. Carrot juice and beet
You may use these remedies in combination or separately. These ingredients are great for adding red tints to your color, and if you want to have more red-orange color you should add more carrots. For more red color add more beet juice. Apply the juices on your hair and wrap your hair. Leave it for at least 1 hour. Afterwards you should rinse it with water and spray with apple cider vinegar.

7. Henna
Henna powder is great for coloring pigment of the hair. When you use it alone it will color your hair red-orange. If you want more smooth effect you should mix it with chamomile tea. Apply it on the hair and comb your hair. Next you should wrap your hair with plastic wrap and leave it for few hours until your hair is dyed. When you get the wanted color you should rinse it with water.
