All participants needed to consume 350 calories per day, but the first group consumed oatmeal, the second group consumed cornflakes and the third group drank only water. The groups had the same meal for lunch.

This idea for the research was to find out the satiety level of the participants within three hours after the consumption of the meal. Also blood samples were analyzed by specialists in order to measure the sugar and insulin levels in their blood.

Results of the research study show that the first group felt less cravings during morning and afternoon compared to the other two groups. Also the results show less calories being consumed during lunch when compared to the other two groups. The difference was 31% less calories for lunch. These scientists have managed to find that oatmeal is extremely beneficial for weight loss because people consume 50% less calories during their lunch.

Second group of participant felt hunger after three hours and the third group felt hunger in less than 3 hours. Due to the fact that oatmeal stays longer in your stomach, you want feel sudden drop in sugar in your body and feel food craving. There are a lot of other studies which prove the same finding.
